The Committee previously help public hearings on Senate bills that are
substantially similar to House hills as noted.  Please focus your testimony
on the differences, if any, between the House and Senate measures identified
below.

HB 2349 HD1      RELATING TO INSURANCE                         TIA/CPN
                 Allows an insurer to recover the amount of covered loss
                 deductible provided by statute and that would have
                 reduced the insurer's liability with regard to the
                 claim, from the insured whose conduct resulted in
                 inapplicability of the covered loss deductible to the
                 claim.  (HB2349 HD1) (TAKUMI)

HB 1762          RELATING TO MOTOR CARRIERS               TIA/CPN, JDC
(Sim. to SB 2305)   Clarifies the scope of entities subject to civil
                 penalties for failing to comply with motor carrier law.

HB 2751 HD2      RELATING TO MOTOR VEHICLE INSURANCE      CPN/TIA, WAM
(Sim. to SB 2018)   Requires motor vehicle insurers to give counties
                 electronic notice of policy issuances, cancellations,
                 nonrenewals, and lapses.  Appropriates funds for
                 development of a database of insured motorists.  (HB2751

HB 1944 HD2      RELATING TO PUBLIC SERVICE COMPANY TAX   CPN/TIA, WAM

 
                 Allows the counties to collect a part of the public
                 service company tax in exchange for not assessing the
                 real property tax on utility companies. (HB1944 HD2)

HB 2448          RELATING TO THE EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT    CPN/TIA, WAM
(SB 2789)           SYSTEM
                 Clarifies provisions regarding the payment and
                 collection of pension accumulation contributions due
                 from the counties.  (SAY (BR))

HB 2458          RELATING TO THE EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT SYSTEM  CPN, WAM
(SB 2799)           Extends the payment period of the acturial present value
                 from a total of 5 years to a total of 19 years without
                 affecting past payments made.  (SAY (BR))

HB 2447          RELATING TO THE EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT SYSTEM  CPN, WAM
(SB 2788)           Clarifies the calculation of excess investment earnings
                 under Act 100/1999.  (SAY (BR))

Persons wishing to testify should submit 35 copies of their testimony to the
committee clerk, Room 202, State Capitol, 24 hours prior to the hearing.
Testimony may also be faxed if less than 5 pages in length, to the Senate
Sergeant-At-Arms Office at 586-6659 or 1-800-586-6659 (toll free for
neighbor islands), at least 24 hours prior to the hearing.  When faxing,
please indicate to whom the testimony is being submitted, the date and time
of the hearing, and the required number of copies needed for submittal.

If you require special assistance or auxiliary aids or services to
participate in the public hearing process (i.e., sign language interpreter,
wheelchair accessibility, or parking designated for the disabled), please
contact the committee clerk 24 hours prior to the hearing so arrangements
can be made.

Public Folder.  A folder labeled "Public Folder" containing the measures and
testimonies for the hearing will be available for shared use by members of
the public.
